The mountain lake is a year-round must-see for nature lovers. In summer, you can explore the lake by pedal boat. An interesting nature trail leads around the lake.

the lively village centre

In the heart of Dobbiaco lie its characteristic vibrant shopping street as well as its stunning cultural sights and venues. Unico: the crystal-clear
mountain lakes

Crystal-clear mountain lakes

Shades of turquoise, green & blue, shimmering & glittering and framed by the mountain giants of the Dolomites: the lakes of Alta Pusteria might be different in character but what they all have in common are the dream-like location including a priceless panoramic view. Not only the Lago di Dobbiaco is worth a visit, Dobbiaco and its environs offer more mountain lakes for you to be discovered:

  • Lago di Landro
     12.4 km |  13 min. | 1,406 m
Relax on the pebble beach, enjoy a view of the Cristallo Group, maybe dip your feet into the water – because the water of Lago di Landro is a little warmer than other mountain lakes.
  • Lago di Braies
     16.2 km |  20 min. | 1,494 m
The most famous mountain lake of the Dolomites is Lago di Braies – not only a mekka for locals and travellers but also film set for the Italian TV series “Un passo dal cielo” (with international movie star Terence Hill).

Beware of

Beware of Krampus

If you stay in Dobbiaco in December, you simply cannot miss the tradition of the Krampus run. Dobbiaco hosts the oldest run in South Tyrol with 600 Krampus, furry figures with bizarre and creepy masks, whomake their way through the streets of the village. Of course, St. Nicholas will be there too. But careful, he will only stop by you if you have been good this year …

Ready to shop, set, go:

More than culture:
culture centre Grand Hotel Toblach

Culture Centre

Right next to the Dobbiaco railway station, the Cultural Centre of Dobbiaco looks back on an eventful history. Once a Grand Hotel with famous guests from European dynasties, today a cultural centre and stage for many a world star of classical music. The centre is not only a venue for music events, but also serves as a cultural meeting place for conferences, seminars and projects. The Gustav Mahler Hall in particular, is loved and appreciated by international musicians for its outstanding acoustics.
